In the last few years, machine learning and data science have become most popular terms not only in research and academics but also in industrial sectors. The emergence of artificial intelligence, the availability of rich sources of high dimensional data and cheap and abundant computation capability has led to the effective applications of machine learning algorithms in all aspects of life.

For example, price prediction of certain goods and products, credit card fraud detection, share market crash prediction, Email spam filtering, autonomous driving and traffic control system, Risk management and analysis, Medical sectors (e.g. classification of malignant and benign cancer), face recognition, online recommendation systems, customer supports and chatbots and many more. These mouth watering applications of machine learning clearly shows that this field keeps on growing for another two to three decades.

Considering this as a high time to learn and get acquainted with this wonderful discovery, we have proposed a “National Workshop on Machine Learning and Data Science, 2018” in KIST College, Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu from May 9 - 11, 2018. In this workshop, we offer both theoretical and practical aspects of machine learning and data science. The participants will get hands-on experiences and be able to work with real life data.

We will provide a very clear view of different algorithms in most practical way possible, along with artificial neural network and deep learning. Our programming tool will be python. However, there is no restriction to use other tools such as R or Matlab or Java.
